W środę 26 kwietnia 2017 r. w sali konferencyjnej w Afrykarium we Wrocławskim Ogrodzie Zoologicznym odbyła się konferencja podsumowująca realizację projektu „Mój zielony DOM”.

Serdecznie zapraszamy.

"Together we change the world that surrounds us. Clean air, water, forest, nearest surroundings, we live in, depends on our small, daily decisions We all want to live in a healthy and friendly place. But it does not just happen. Each of us has to make sure that Wroclaw is an environmental -friendly and pollution-free city. That is why it is so important to raise awareness of environmental issues and also to educate about nature…."

- Rafał Dutkiewicz, President of Wroclaw, writes in the introduction to photo book, which is a guide to the project "My green Home",

We invite you to read the whole and to get acquainted with the activities that took place within the project in Wroclaw and its surroundings.

This time the participants of the project "My green home" rolled up their sleeves for the reason of cleanliness and personal hygiene.

We created a lot of small masterpieces during eco soaps workshop. All of them were beautiful and organic, made from glycerin and goods of Nature.

Students from Primary School No. 22, where the workshop was held, confirm the high quality of their products:

"Soaps are free from any synthetic additives that can irritate the skin, artificial flavorings or colorings. They only contain glycerin and plant extracts with theirs soothing attitudes and delicious honey, which we managed not to eat during the workshop " - admit with pride.

For sure children and youth from My green home have statistically cleaner hands than their equals.

What have we learnt from children about ecology? The report from the workshop "Together, we are building our green home"

"For the past 2 years of the project" My green home" we had an opportunity to influence the attitude of eco-friendly children and young people. So far we (means adult) taught the young people ecology - on the one hand showing wildlife, and on the other the impact that man has on it . Now it is the right time to make a change – just swap. Well see what kind of lesson the young generation can give to us"- adds Joanna Handziak-Buczko - project manager of „My green home", and explains the idea of the event.

The intention of the originators was to show that children could teach adult about ecology. What was the result? What will happen, when we allow children and young people to build our living environment - our green home?

At the beginning of February six Wroclaw’ s institutions took part in the ecological event :"Together, we are building our green home."

The main task that participants will have to do - is to build "our green home" on the basis of cardboard houses "HOCKOklocki" by any technique, with the use of plastic materials, natural materials, recyclable and generally available secondary raw materials (caps, plastic, paper, etc.).

In total, in Wroclaw will be held three events: one at the School Complex No. 24, where children from Kindergarten No. 15 will also join us, the second - in the Primary School No. 22, where will come students from Primary School No. 26, and the third event will take place at the nursery school No. 58, where the team of preschoolers and children from Primary School No. 28 built our green home together.

For the first time in the Kindergarten No. 58 was appeared probably the biggest and the most colorful in the world box for birds. "During the winter any box or space remaining house is a protection for the animals and it was a great fun to make birdhouses so colorful and happy” - said preschoolers involved in the action.

And here comes the lesson for us - to take care of animals and treat their needs on the same stage as ours . "The people are nice to each other. Each of us can also do something nice for the animals. The birds will be happy when they get some bacon or sunflower seeds. And our colorful birdhouses will be seen from afar "- adds the boy from the event .

In the Secondary School No. 24, besides colorful bird boxes was made forest cottage , which can be used both: people or animals. It is said that this cottage is magic and you can hear there some stories from the wild inhabitants of the forest ,heard by mosses, stored in the noise of leaves and grass, closed in the fruits and seeds of trees – main building sources of the second cottage.

During this moments with magical house children expressed their desire to live in harmony with nature, the desire to build something that interacts with the environment, not destroy it , and enriches and opens the imagination.

"Everyone, even children, needs time to rest, and the coolest resting place is our Nature, that is why we decorated forest house with natural materials straight from the wood" said one of the participants.

In the Primary School No. 22 was created the third eco – house. Students were cooperated with the pupils of Primary School No. 26 and they made house from discarded materials.

The main coordinator of the event in the Primary School No. 22, assistant director and teacher Dorota Morocco, says: "Our house is big, because it has to hold together all the good ideas for waste segregation. The walls of a house are decorated with materials from recycled materials - nuts, newsprint, plastic tubes, bottles, etc... It simply looks like as an ECO - HOME".

We have taught more during interviewing children, involved in the event.

How can we care for the world by playing with the garbage?

The answer from six graders is simple: "We can use them to build different things! For example containers for pencils at home, bookmarks, and even we can built our common eco – home as we did today! "

What is ecology?

"Ecology is taking care of the environment, sorting and cleaning of garbage, trying not to destroy our common home."

And the answer for the question: What does it mean that we are building our green home?

Paul from III b class, after consideration, says: "When we do something ecologically, we build up our green home."

And today you have built a house with garbage/trash?

A Classmate of Paul, Hania, straightens "Not with garbage! But from discarded cardboard boxes, old pipes, films, scarves, scraps of paper. "

This way, we have learned that the children distinguish at least two category of garbage – first one – just rubbish, they fit into the trash and second category - used materials for further use, recyclable.

Instead of throwing away garbage, what can we use them for?

"Well, when I have something unnecessary, I put it into the cupboard and then make a plan – what I can build with it. A few times I was able to build something cool – recently I have made an angel. "- adds Paul

Hania throws in: "A friend of mine has a whole drawer of various unnecessary things, and recently we have done microphones to play. I use unnecessary things to build small houses for my teddy bears , and now I’m planning to make with used cartoons the run path for my hamster. "

This event proved that children do not have to play with new toys, they can just use their unlimited imagination and the power of childrens creations to have great fun.

Lets summarize, now. What will happen, when we let children and young people to build our living environment - our green home?

Certainly we can learn how to care for the biodiversity of our green home, we will renew the need for contact with nature, because we are part of it, we will learn that not everything should be put straight into dustbin, and in the end we will have fun, because the life of a young ecologist is full of exciting adventures!
