The "My Green HOME" project is carried out in the period 06.01.2014 - 30.04.2017 r. co-financed from the funds of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area from 2009 to 2014 * Operational Programme PL02 - Protection of biodiversity and ecosystems and the resources at the Municipality of Wrocław.
The project involves improving the quality of provision and outcomes in the field of biodiversity and ecosystem protection in Poland. It encourages preschoolers and students for exploring the world in its complexity, shows power of self-learning, inspires for researching, teaches to express their own thoughts and experiences, arouses cognitive curiosity, motivates to continue education and activities for environmental protection in cooperation with other institutions active in the field of education.
The project supports children and adolescents in age from 4 to 19 that are pupils or graduates of Kindergarten No. 58 in Wrocław, Elementary School No. 22, School Complex No. 4 and School Complex No. 24, who have environmental, pro-social and artistic interests and also the local community – residents of housing estates in the area covered by institutions participating in the project. The project participants have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of life sciences through direct and active participation in many educational activities provided by the project.
For the fulfillment of the the assumed goals, there were planned a large number of activities involving the participation of children from institutions supported by the project, such as trips to national parks and landscape parks, visits and workshops in academic and instructional facilities in Wrocław, natural science workshops and its related branches workshops, special interest clubs, lectures, conferences, ecopicnics.
During the project the classrooms are being renovated for the needs to organize in them natural and floristic rooms, labs with renewable energy sources and the „My Green HOME" laboratory. The rooms are equipped with modern equipment to facilitate students to acquire new knowledge in, attractive, active way (eg boards and multimedia projectors, 3D printer, specialized equipment enabling experimentation and learning sources and renewable energy resources). At schools will also be created learning paths available for Wroclaw’s preschoolers, students and the local community. Direct contact with the nature and natural teaching aids helps to raise awareness about the environment and to explore the surrounding word in all its diversity and complexity.
Apart from the initiatives addressed to a direct target group - schoolchildren of four educational institutions in Wrocław – the projects implements a campaign of information-promotion that serves raising ecological awareness, environmental education and informs about the project activities and outcomes. Within the campaign there are held conferences, leaflet and poster actions, publication of articles, press releases and eco-picnics. There are also plans for publication and distribution of photo book documenting the most interesting events that happened in the course the project.
The “My Green HOME“ project is held under the patronage of media portal www.czasdzieci.pl and Radio Rodzina.
By EEA and Norwegian funds, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway contribute to reducing social and economic inequality and strengthening bilateral relations with beneficiary countries in Europe. Those three countries cooperate very close with the EU on the basis of the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA Agreement).
In the period 2009-2014 the value of the funds of the EEA and Norwegian funds amounts to 1.79 billion euros. Norway provides around 97% of total funding. The funds are available to non-governmental organizations, research institutions and universities, the public sector and the private sector in the 12 newly acceded EU Member States and Greece, Portugal and Spain. In this framework there is extensive cooperation with entities from donor countries, and projects can be implemented by 2016.
Key areas of support include environmental protection and climate change, research and scholarships, civil society, health care and support for children, gender equality, justice and cultural heritage.
The project "My Green HOME": 2 629.553 PLN, including funding from the EEA originating in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway in the amount of 2 235.120 PLN.
